Anselm Fraser has been designing and making fine furniture for over 40 years. He founded the Chippendale International School of Furniture in 1985 which is now considered one of the leading furniture design and making schools in the world.
His son, Jamie Anselm Fraser, spent much of his childhood in the school’s workshop where he picked up his skills in woodwork and design. After working as a tutor in the school for 5 years he decided to focus his passion on creating one-off pieces of exceptional quality under the name Anselm Fraser Design.
Apart from the synergy that both father and son share, the name Anselm was the obvious choice for the business considering its French origins, as many of the techniques incorporated into their designs utilise methods pioneered by French master craftsmen such as marquetry, verre églomisé and Boulle work.
It is their desire that a modern interpretation of these, and other traditional techniques will produce pieces that will blend effortlessly into the client’s surroundings, standing the test of time to become the treasured antiques of tomorrow.
