The intention for Sling was to create a feeling of weightlessness. Traditional table design requires robust aprons under the table to restrict the top from bowing under its own weight. Using a honeycomb aluminium core (more commonly found within the aerospace industry) this veneered tabletop does not require any apron. Combined with elegantly twisting legs, the overall effect is one of clean lines, enhanced by pleasing details such as the contrasting splines in each corner. Without the distraction of a cumbersome apron, the silhouette of Sling perfectly reflects the qualities sought in a modern pared-back architectural style.
