A Common Thread
This collection plays with the relationship between geometric and organic shapes that can be found all over the natural world. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the structure of DNA, the hereditary code found in almost all living organisms, with the curving shape of the double helix held together by linear base pairs of chemical code. Referencing the helical structure of a screw’s thread, ‘A common thread’ attempts to celebrate this relationship. For some pieces, this design approach has resulted in a bold twisting element that dictates the overall aesthetic, whilst for others the blending of adjacent surfaces into each other is more subtle.
